How does Smidge work?

Did you know it’s only female midges that bite? They hunt to feed their developing eggs and when they find a tasty specimen they give off pheromones which let other hungry mothers in the area know you’re the all-you-can drink buffet.

Midges start the hunt for us using the carbon dioxide of exhaled breath and a whole cocktail of other body odours to locate their next dinner. Smidge contains a fiendishly clever mix including the active ingredient - Saltidin®. It works by throwing midges and other bloodthirsty insects off your scent. If they can’t find you, they can’t bite you!  With a smidge of Smidge on you’ll simply outwit them.

How a midge hunts

Ready…...  the midge ‘smells’ carbon dioxide from your breath in an odour plume and starts to fly towards you, picking up a whole load of body smells as it does

Steady…... flying in a zig-zag fashion makes sure that the midge doesn’t lose the scent, with body heat helping to guide the midge in its final stages

Feast….... the midge lands, tastes your skin and decides whether you’re a tasty enough dinner
